‘Suspicious package’ discovered, destroyed at US Attorney’s Office in Albuquerque
A suspicious package was received at the Albuquerque Office of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico on 22JAN24 leading the office to enact emergency protocol. The Albuquerque Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit was dispatched to the scene to analyze the situation and opted to disrupt the suspicious package. The U.S. Marshals Service is now investigating the incident.
North Georgia man arrested for planting explosive after being accused of domestic violence
The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect on 25JAN24 in connection to placing an improvised explosive device (IED) in January of 2024 at a residence in Gordan County, Georgia. The suspect has been charged with possession of an explosive device, manufacturing an explosive device, battery, cruelty to children, and violation of probation.
Two men arrested, charged with planting explosive devices in central MA
Two suspects were arrested on 24JAN24 in connection to multiple mailboxes and other outdoor sites being targeted with IEDs during December of 2024 in Central Massachusetts. The suspects have been charged with four counts of possession of a destructive device, placing an explosive device, and vandalism. The investigation was a joint effort including the Monson Police Department, Brookfield Police Department, Holland Police Department, Sturbridge Police Department, and State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office.

Multiple explosions have been reported in a neighborhood of Sacramento, California over the course of a week in January of 2024. The explosions have been powerful enough to shake resident’s homes, the Sacramento police explosive ordinance disposal unit has taken over the investigation.
Man dies in blast after experimenting with explosives
A man died of an accidental detonation in Franklin Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania on 24JAN24 from experimenting with explosives. Pennsylvania State Troopers discovered the man had died after responding to his residence due to reports of a possible explosion.
Police detain suspect related to explosive device found near Deming courthouse
An IED was discovered at a probation office in Demining, New Mexico on 22JAN24 following reports of a possible explosion. Upon discovery of the IED the New Mexico State Police’s Bomb Squad was dispatched to the scene. An initial investigation found surveillance video which led law enforcement to establishing the suspect’s vehicle leading to a vehicle pursuit at 1200 on 22JAN24 which concluded on interstate 10. The suspect was taken into custody and the State’s police bomb squad conducted a search of the vehicle for additional IEDs. New Mexico State Police are now leading the investigation into the incident.

Man arrested in connection to explosion investigation in Colorado Springs
A suspect has been arrested on 23JAN24 in connection to an explosion investigation in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The investigation was initiated on 12JAN24 after reports of an explosion were made at the 500 block of East Costilla Street in Colorado Springs.
It began as a routine traffic stop. Then an NC bomb squad was called in
A Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop which led to the discovery of multiple pipe bombs and drugs on 22JAN24 in Rowan County, North Carolina. A K9 unit who was requested to the scene alerted to the presence of narcotics which then led the officers on scene to search the vehicle further which uncovered the pipe bombs. Once the pipe bombs were discovered, a perimeter was established, and the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad responded to the scene to dispose of the pipe bombs. The suspect has been charged with charged with possession of weapons of mass destruction, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and traffic violations.

Bomb squad detonates Korean War-era grenade found by man in Henry County
A hand grenade was discovered at a vacant property on 22JAN24 in Henry County, Ohio. The Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad was dispatched to the scene and disposed of the grenade in a nearby field.
‘Dangerous materials’ dropped off at Walpole Fire Department prompts controlled detonation by police
The Walpole Fire Department of Massachusetts received a box full small fireworks items on 22JAN24 causing the fire department to contact the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad. A disposal was carried out nearby in two separate shots by the bomb squad.

A suspect on trial for manufacturing triacetone triperoxide (TATP) in 2021 on multiple occasions, both at his residence in Vinton and at another property off Branico Drive in Roanoke, Virginia has been sentenced to 8 months in prison, 2 years of supervised release, and a 100 dollar fine. The suspect’s charges, which were pled guilty to, were Possession of explosives by a felon and Illegal storage of explosives.
